Career Support Group Meetup #2: Decision-Making for Career Clarity
I’m excited to share that we hosted another insightful session in our Career Support Group Coaching Series, designed to help professionals gain clarity, motivation, and fulfilment in their careers. With over 20 participants on the call, the momentum was strong! Many had requested this topic, as Aleksandra Czekalska and me often professionally help individuals navigate career decisions in personal coaching.

What We Explored Together – with Actionable Tips:
Recognising the Signs You Need a Change
Before making a decision, it’s important to recognize when change is necessary. We discussed key indicators that might signal it's time for a shift:
❓ Do you feel drained rather than energized by your work—even after rest?
❓ Are you staying in your current situation out of fear rather than excitement for what’s ahead?
Being honest about these signs can help clarify whether it’s time to explore new opportunities.
The Tetralemma: Expanding Your Perspective
We introduced the Tetralemma, a decision-making tool that helps explore options beyond the typical "either-or" thinking. Instead of limiting ourselves to only two choices, we looked at:
1️⃣ Option A (e.g., staying in the current role)
2️⃣ Option B (e.g., making a change)
3️⃣ Both (a mix of both options)
4️⃣ Neither (choosing an entirely new path)
5️⃣ Letting go for now and revisiting later
Through Aleksandra’s story, one of the many findings, was to see how the first option aligned with her values. To test it further, we used the Somatic Markers technique—asking how positive and negative each option felt in the body and put numbers from 0-10 on each. This intuitive check helped reveal what resonated most.
Simple Decision-Making Tools to Try
Sometimes, despite deep reflection, we still feel stuck. That’s where simple yet effective tools come in:
📌 The 10/10/10 Rule – Ask yourself: How will this decision feel in 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years? This helps shift perspective beyond short-term fears.
📌 Pros & Cons List – A classic yet powerful tool to weigh your options.
📌Flipping a Coin – Not to decide for you, but to observe your gut reaction. If you feel relief or disappointment at the result, it signals what you truly want.
Tapping into Your Wise Mind
We closed with The Wise Mind concept, a balance between logic (rational mind) and intuition (emotional mind). Aleksandra shared how embracing both perspectives leads to decisions that feel right rather than just rational.
💡 Key Insight: Sometimes, a decision reveals itself immediately. Other times, it takes space and patience. Trust that clarity will come when the time is right.
