Each blooms in its own time, in its own way. None compares itself to the other. None blooms &#8220;too late.&#8221; Applied to people: we grow and unfold at our own pace \u2014 that&#8217;s not a flaw, it&#8217;s just how it works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Moment This Becomes Relevant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I talk to experienced professionals and leaders who are considering a career change at 40+, almost the same quiet comparison shows up every time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;By my mid-30s I should already have&#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;My colleague is two years younger and already a Director.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;I&#8217;m changing direction now \u2014 isn&#8217;t that too late?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s not a coincidence. Career paths get sold to us as a timeline: first leadership role by 30, senior management by 40, or something&#8217;s wrong. Almost no real career actually follows that script. The people who end up making the most stable, most impactful next moves are rarely the ones who rigidly followed someone else&#8217;s schedule \u2014 they&#8217;re the ones who understood when <em>their<\/em> time was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Picture this for a second:<\/strong> you meet yourself five years from now. That version of you made the move you&#8217;re currently waiting on. What did she see differently than you do today? Usually not &#8220;more courage&#8221; \u2014 just this: she stopped measuring her timing against everyone else&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Timing Isn&#8217;t a Weakness, It&#8217;s Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oubaitori doesn&#8217;t say &#8220;just wait, it&#8217;ll happen.&#8221; That would be passivity, not a principle. It says something more precise: <strong>comparing yourself to someone else&#8217;s timing is the wrong measure.<\/strong> The right measure is whether you know where you stand, what&#8217;s next for you \u2014 and whether you&#8217;re willing to act on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A change that comes at 45 because clarity wasn&#8217;t there before isn&#8217;t a late change. It&#8217;s the change that became possible at that point \u2014 through experience, through what came before it. The cherry blossom doesn&#8217;t bloom &#8220;too late&#8221; just because the plum already bloomed.
